LETTER: Be grateful

Don’t let writing letters to the editor become a dying art.
Don’t let writing letters to the editor become a dying art.

When I listen to people complain about something I, like a lot of people, get turned off and wonder are these people grateful for anything or do they just like to complain. This has led me to think about what we can be grateful for. So, I made a list of things that I am grateful for, and perhaps you can be too.

One thing is living in a great country and province. Being healthy and having  access to medical assistance, if needed. Being able to get an education and a career. Buying a house or renting one that I could afford. Being able to go shopping for whatever I need, perhaps not for what I want. Feeling safe when I walk down the street. Knowing that the police will help me if I need help and also that my fellow Islanders will too. I can go for a drive and find some of the most beautiful sites and beaches in the world here on P.E.I. Being able to have a great wife and raising four beautiful girls. I can practise my religion without fear. Being grateful in these times of COVID-19 that I live on P.E.I., where there has been a sense of security knowing that the advice that I got from Dr. Morrison about staying safe is working.

I know that we have the right to complain about stuff that happened in the past and what might be happening right now in our lives, but don't forget to look around and think of things that you have to be grateful for. You might find things are really not all that bad. I know you will feel much better. Good luck!
