EDITOR:

Recently The Guardian had a prominent article with pictures about updates at the Hillsborough Bridge. In the foreground were clear views of those ugly and irregular cement pillars, used for the former steel bridge of yesteryear.

Why are these eyesores still there for all to see at the very entrance of our fair city which we like to promote so much?

Don’t tell us that these old piers are kept for the birds or that we don’t have the means to remove them or that no one knows which level of government has responsibility for them. So why are these concrete relics still there?
