EDITOR:

If ever we need a reason for getting rid of these community mail boxes, we got one from Bob Santer’s letter to the editor on June 12. Apparently when postal workers empty the outgoing mail bins and find flyers, they throw everything - legitimate mail and all - in the recycle bin.

Canadians have the right to trust that Canada Post will safely and promptly deliver any and all mail being sent. The idea that some postal worker will arbitrarily throw my letters or bill payments into the garbage is an outrage. At the very least, it is unprofessional and I would think against the law.

a solution would be for Canada Post to place a receptacle next to the mail boxes so we could dispose of the unwanted flyers there. Better yet, they could return to home delivery.

Charlottetown
