EDITOR:

As a Come From Away (CFA) and Islander By Choice (IBC), I am constantly amazed that Islanders, who seem to love their news on Compass and Island Morning shows, meekly acquiesce to doing without both on weekends.

I would hazard a guess that more news items happen on the weekend than on weekdays. The past weekend is a good example. There were many newsworthy Remembrance Day events going on and with no Compass show, we had to watch CTV out of Halifax. Big surprise, nothing about the island.

The Cavendish Beach Music Festival is another example of a time when I bet Islanders would like to see some coverage. No CBC though, oh no, they can't work on weekends.

I'm not saying that CBC people should work seven days a week but why not work out a rota system like CTV does? Everyone takes a turn.

It's Monday Nov. 12 now and we still don't have the usual people on the radio because they're taking a long weekend.

Ron Moxness,

Margate
