EDITOR:

I refer to the latest flyer concerning proportional representation, probably issued by P.E.I.'s undemocratic majority government. To me, 'no' means 'yes.' This government selected MMP (mixed member proportional) as the only proportional representation (PR) choice for the upcoming referendum, whereby, the plebiscite on P.E.I. in 2016 had three PR choices – MMP, DMP and RPV (mixed member proportional, dual member proportional and representation preferential voting). This was no doubt because MMP is quite complicated and hard to wrap your head around, and as a majority government, they want first-past-the-post, status quo since the early 1800s. Further, the red cross in the top option 'no' on the flyer was close to rigged voting in a third world country. Why I say 'no' means 'yes' is because this is the only way to react to our government propaganda, and the only way to vote for PR. Think of this. The latest polls suggest that there is a good chance of the coming election resulting in a minority government. If this is so, and the (non-binding) PR vote result is for PR not FPTP, we can put aside the MMP vote forced on us. With a majority (or coalition) government we could find ourselves back to deciding for PR with other options that were voted for in 2016 and maybe more. We should be able to decide on an amicable agreement with all parties concerned, should there not be a majority. Incidentally, without commenting on all of the many questionable 'did you know' comments on the flyer, these being government comments in their opinion, they are definitely wrong in at least one statement. I refer to 'coalition government creates an unstable government'. Lest we forget, the U.K. fought seven years of war against Germany from 1939 to 1946 under a coalition government and won!

‘No' definitely means 'yes', vote for PR.
