This is in response to the Aug. 9 article from The Journal Pioneer “In response to mass shootings, Walmart pulls violent video game signage from U.S stores; will still sell guns.”

In my opinion, violent video games are not influencing people to commit crimes, such as a shooting. Just because people play violent games, it doesn’t make them aggressive, and it doesn’t make them want to kill someone or do something illegal. I’ve spoken about this topic to an adult, and even he didn’t think the reason for violence is video games. He told me that they just need something to blame it on. First, when he was a kid, aggression was blamed on a lack of education, and now, it’s being blamed on video games.

I don’t understand what they think that taking down any posters, pictures, etc., that represent those types of games, but still selling guns, is going to do. As long as guns are being sold there, they’re still too easily accessible. If they really wanted to do something about possibly reducing violence or respecting those affected in shootings, they’d stop selling guns. Video games aren’t the cause for violence.
