EDITOR:
I am pleasantly surprised to read that a sitting MLA. has finally found the moral strength and courage to take a giant leap towards bringing back democracy to our Island home. Kudos to Mr. Dumville for stepping up to the plate. His vision of a consensus government makes so much sense in such a small populated province.
I hope that like-minded individuals who are sick and tired of the backroom boys running the province to further their own greed, will join Mr. Dumville. It is highly unlikely that the new leader of the PC party, however passionate, will be able to rid the old boy style of politics.
Greed is instilled in both the Liberals and the PC parties. I would love to see other sitting MLAs break away from under the thumb of the backroom to benefit Islanders.
A consensus government would bring back elected school boards, health boards etc., and put back the governance of the province in the hands of the people, as it should be, instead of the government telling the people what to do that benefits their friends and families.
James Aylward and Steven Myers, please consider the possibilities and join the movement to bring true democracy back to Islanders. A consensus government makes more sense than proportional representation which just perpetuates the backroom.
