Justin Trudeau has travelled to Ethiopia to hand out $10 million to advance “gender equality” among nations of the African Union. Given that he’s an avowed feminist, one understands that this is one of his favourite causes. Never mind that many children in this country cannot get a decent breakfast, and demands on homeless shelters and food banks are growing by the day.

One wonders if there is a greater motivation though — namely, obtaining the goodwill of African nations to support his bid for a seat on the UN Security Council. If such is the case, one can draw parallels to the recent SNC-Lavalin case, in which that company bribed officials in another African nation, Libya, to ensure a positive outcome for their bid for work there. The ironies never cease.
