Jim Vibert writing, "Have we become numb to climate change," in The Guardian, Oct. 15, makes the exact same mistake other Canadian commenters do from coast to coast who weigh in on our contribution to GHG emissions. This is a world-wide problem, and there's extremely little measurable that 36 million, in a world population of 7.5 billion, contributing less than 3 per cent to GHG's can do about it.
Hackneyed phrasing such as " . . . what kind of future we'll leave generations . . . " is what Canadians should and hopefully have become numb to.
Instead of taxing life in a modern time, we should be taxing the worlds big polluters, China 27 per cent, etc., not future generations of Canadians who will not be comfortable living as our ancestors did before the discovery of and harnessing of fossil fuels.
