EDITOR:

Congratulations to MLA Hannah Bell for introducing a private member’s bill that would allow for the collection of necessary data to get a clear understanding of the short-term rentals in the province.

Also, congratulations to the St. Dunstan’s University Institute of Christianity and Culture at UPEI for hosting a presentation by David Wachsmuth on Oct. 30 on this very issue.

Dr. Wachsmuth, the Canada Research Chair in Urban Governance at McGill University, identified the need for such data collection as a basic step in dealing with shortterm rentals, which has been identified as a problem in the issue of affordable housing.

Both Bell and the SDU Institute are taking practical steps to address our housing problem.

Philip Macdonald,

Charlottetown
