Winston Churchill Hurry
At the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Friday, December 14, 2018 of Winston C. Hurry, Glen Valley, age 77 years. Beloved husband of Linda. Loving Dad to Shawna, Robert (Sabrina), Chad (Jodie). Also left to mourn are numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Enid (Owen) Hurry and infant brother Douglas. Winston’s 37 years in the Canadian Forces saw him serve in the Medical Corp, Airborne Regiment and in his last 20 years as a SAR Tech with CF Search and Rescue – the part he loved so much. He said he would do it for free if he didn’t have a family to feed! It was in this capacity that he reached the rank of Master Warrant Officer. He was awarded the Medal of Bravery, the Medal for Canadian Decoration (two bars), and the Dutch Medal for Humane Deeds in Bronze by Queen Juliana of the Netherlands. Despite these accomplishments and many acts of heroism, Winston was known and loved as a humble man. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home for visitation in the Belvedere Funeral Home Reception Centre on Wednesday 6-8 p.m. No funeral service by request. Memorial donations may be made to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation or the PEI Humane Society. www.belvederefh.com
