GALLANT, Wilbert It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Wilbert Gallant, age 79, of North Rustico. The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on May 23, 2020, with his loving wife by his side. Wilbert Gallant, loving husband of Ruth (Gallant) Gallant; devoted father of Barry (Lori Toombs), Terry, and Rose Marie (Dave) Pangman; adoring "Poppie" to grandchildren Mark Gallant, Lauren and Julia Pangman. Wilbert is survived by his brothers Walter (Marion), Leonard (Terry) and Noel (Judy) and sisters Edna (Dave) Ingram, Dorothy (Greg) Gallant, Phyllis and Linda (Eldon deceased) Acorn. Wilbert was predeceased by his parents Frank and Georgina (Doiron) Gallant, and infant sister Mary. Wilbert will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. Wilbert was a master of the trade of carpentry and was an active member of his church community. He was always willing to offer a helping hand to friends or relatives with any project, big or small. Wilbert loved sports, especially baseball, where his favorite team was the Toronto Blue Jays. Wilbert also loved a good game of cards, but his joy was the time he spent his three grand kids – from Friday night dinners with his grandson Mark, to the daily FaceTime calls with his grand-daughters Lauren and Julia. Wilbert was a kind-hearted man – he will always be fondly remembered for his welcoming smile and warm greetings, who touched many of those lucky enough to have crossed his path. Resting at Central Queens Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Due to health restrictions currently in place, there will be family visitation only with interment in the St. Ann's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
