Mildred Campbell
CAMPBELL, Mildred Mrs. Mildred Campbell (nee Coffin) of Red Deer passed away peacefully at Villa Marie long term care facility on May 8, 2020. She was surrounded virtually and in person by family who shared “Love letters to Nana” throughout the day. Millie was born on February 28, 1932 in Cherry Hill, Prince Edward Island to Harold and Alice Coffin. After graduating high school, Millie taught at Cherry Hill School, then worked in banks in Mount Stewart, Charlottetown and Montreal. Her adventurous spirit eventually led her west to Calgary, Alberta where she met and married the love of her life, Donald Campbell of Hanna, Alberta. Don and Millie raised 4 children, first in Calgary and then in Red Deer. Family and friends were important to Millie. She treasured time spent in P.E.I., Garden Plain and in the Campbell kitchen, surrounded by loved ones. One always left Nana’s kitchen well-nourished with food, stories and laughter. Millie is pre-deceased by her husband, Don Campbell and her sister, Edith (Coffin) Giggey. Although she is sadly missed, her legacy is celebrated by her children, Jan (Jeff) Ludwig, Jennifer (Ross) Hesby, Jeff (Kim) Campbell, Julie (Keith) Hansen, her nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren, her siblings, Dorothy (Gordon) Burton, Garth (Trinkie) Coffin, Eleanor (Roger) Birt, and Edgar (Penny) Coffin and by her brother-in-law, Ronnie Giggey. She was also a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. A memorial to celebrate Millie’s life will be held in Red Deer, Alberta on May 29, 2020.
