The death occurred at the Dr. John Gillis Memorial Lodge on August 16, 2018 surrounded by family and friends, of Kathleen (Kay) Furness of Vernon Bridge aged 92. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Furness. Mother of Ralph (Kathy), Gordon (Sharon) and mother in law of Kathy. Grandmother of Colin (Andrea), Jillian and Daniel, Monica, Evan (Ashley) and Sarah. Great grandmother of Jonathan and his baby sister to be born in October. Dear sister of Mary Martin, and dear sister in law of Marion Platts. Remembered by her nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by her beloved son John, her birth parents Malcolm and Sarah MacNeill and Captain Finlay and Margaret MacDougall who raised her as their own daughter. Predeceased by her brothers Albert MacNeill and Reverend Dr. Goodwill MacDougall, sisters Vina MacNeill, Elizabeth Brown, Janette Beaton, Margaret MacDougall and Grace Ross. Many thanks to her caregivers Sarah Furness, Doreen Hughes, Valerie MacLeod and Debbie MacLean that allowed her to be at home for as long as possible. Our thanks also go to the staff of the QEH and the Gillis Lodge for their care over the last month. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home for visitation Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Vernon River Cemetery.
