Owen Edgar Symonds — Barrington/Clark's Harbour

Age 92, of Barrington, formerly of Clark's Harbour, passed away in Bay Side Home, Barrington, on April 17, 2021. Born in Clark's Harbour on November 23, 1928, he was a son of the late Frank and Laura Symonds. Owen loved being a fisherman and greatly enjoyed being on the water. When he was younger he was an avid bowler and even met his wife, Goldie, while he was bowling. In his very young years he was a pitcher for the Clark's Harbour Foggies. He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Shawn) Townsend, Leora White; step- children, Parnell (Frank) Goodwin, Diane Harris-Buchanan, Rosemary (Calvin) Kaiser, Clayton Penney, Tony (Debbie) Penney, Roxanne (Tommy) Hallett; grandchildren, Anthony Swim, Kary Penney, Owen Nickerson; many step grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and Wayne Symonds who he considered the son he never had. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Goldie Symonds; daughter, Betty Penney; stepchildren, Melba, Leslie, Gary; siblings, Judy Smith, Waldina Jones, Roland Symonds, Robie Symonds; grandchild, Robyn Nickerson; and step grandchild, Angie Penney. There will be a graveside service on Friday, April 23rd at 10 a.m. in Centreville Cemetery next to Faith Christian Church, Centreville, with Pastor Paul Lavender officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Heat and Stroke Foundation, The Lung Association Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society.
