Joyce Marie (Jardine) MACKENZIE

MACKENZIE, Joyce Marie (Jardine) Joyce Marie (Jardine) MacKenzie, 86, of Marathon ON, passed away peacefully on Jan. 30th, 2021 at Wilson Memorial General Hospital. She was a proud Islander that was raised in Head of Hillsborough, PEI. Joyce moved to Marathon, Ontario January 8th, 1955 to be with the love of her life. She married Ellison on Sept. 30th, 1955. Joyce was very involved in the community and passionate in the roles she held. She was an active member of the UCW, and volunteered for the Canadian Cancer Society where she was Campaign Chairperson for many years. She was a Life Time Member of the Marathon Seniors Club and a Life Time member of the Hospital Auxiliary here in Marathon. She loved to stay in touch with friends & family through mail, always sending cards and writing letters. Joyce enjoyed her many summer trips back to the Island catching up with family & friends. She also enjoyed many summers as a member of the Marathon North Shore Boat Club where she spent time with family. Family was everything to her. Joyce lived at Peninsula Manor for the last 2 ½ yrs and cherished the many friendships she made there. Left to mourn are her children Faye (Roger) Boissy, Lillian (Jack LeSarge) MacKenzie, and George MacKenzie, grandchildren, Amy (Bryan) MacKillop, Sarah (Jamie) Reid, Stephen (Jocelyn) Boissy, Olivia LeSarge and Shannon LeSarge. Great-Grandchildren, Emma & Owen MacKillop, Carson Reid & another expected any day. Joyce has three cousins still on the Island, Audry (Ray) Shaw, Isabel (Bobby) Laird & Etta Marian Ellis. Predeceased by her husband Ellison in 2007 and her mother Etta Jardine. A memorial service will be held at a later date when the family can all be together. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to the Wilson Memorial Hospital here in Marathon for those who wish.
