We are announcing the peaceful passing of Gerald Angus Gillis at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on June 12, 2019. Gerald is survived by his wife Pauline and dear father to son Kurt and daughter Marlo (Kelly) Craig. Grampy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandsons Eric and Jack and his extended family and friends. Also mourning their loss are his siblings Winston Gillis (Debbie), Marie Bilof (Harry), Sheila McDermott (Jim), Neil Gillis, Florence Gillis, Mike (Mely) Gillis and Roy Gillis, as well as his sister-in-law Nancy (Don) Wallace. Uncle Gerald will be missed by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Duncan Gillis Sr. and Olive Marie (MacPherson) and by brothers Duncan Gillis Jr. (Letricia) and Chris Gillis (Branka). Gerald retired from Ford Motor Company, Oakville, Ontario in November 1989. Shortly after his retirement he and Pauline moved to PEI. He loved this island, its people and the beauty. He enjoyed being a volunteer and giving back to his community by volunteering with CMHA, the Food Kitchen, a community youth group and his favourite political party. He loved all his sailing adventures. An informal gathering to celebrate his life will be held at the Belvedere Funeral Home Reception Centre on Saturday, June 15 from 4-7 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Newmarket, ON. Memorial donations may be made on-line to the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry, Canadian Mental Health Association or Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation. www.belvederefh.com
