Evelyn Read
READ, Evelyn Patricia (née Rooney) Evelyn P. Read (née Rooney), 73, of Moncton, NB and formerly of Charlottetown, PEI, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Elizabeth (Torrens) Rooney. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. After 30 years living on PEI, she retired from the Computer Services Department at UPEI. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, reading, playing golf, dancing, and having a glass or two of wine with her family and friends. What Evelyn did not like were migraines, hot flashes, cancer, dementia and that both of her children lived so far away. Evelyn will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Bruce; son, Chris Read (Grainne) of Sligo, Ireland; daughter, Kelly MacDonald (Jason) of Whitehorse, Yukon; cherished grandchildren, Lucas and Ella Read; step-grandchildren, Patrick, Emma, Juulia and Erica MacDonald; brothers, John Rooney (Ann), Mark Rooney (Lois), Peter Rooney (Betty) and Greg Rooney (Sandra), several nieces, nephews and close friends, especially her Hall’s Landing family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Lynn Mills and brother, Paul Rooney. Special thanks to the nurses at the Palliative Care Unit of the Moncton Hospital and Dr. Pamela Mansfield. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Fergusons Funeral Home Reception Centre, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995) on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
