Ernest DOIRON
DOIRON, Ernest Joseph With profound sadness, we wish to announce the death of Ernest Joseph Doiron. Surrounded by his loving family, Ernie passed away peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 30 years, Rebecca (nee Skinner), and sons, Andrew and Liam. Ernie was born in Charlottetown, PEI, on April 17, 1958, to the late Stanley and Rita (nee Currie) Doiron of Charlottetown. He is survived by his sisters Valerie Brimicombe (John Mason) of Halifax and Deborah Doiron (Rick Doucette) of Charlottetown, mother-in-law Joyce Skinner, sisters-in-law Florence Skinner (Hubert "Socky" MacDonald), Janice McAlduff (Dave), Ruth Skinner, brother-in-law Andrew Skinner (Kelli) and nieces and nephews Jennie, Ryan, Samantha, Jill, Chris, Sara, and Jason. Predeceased by his parents, father-in-law John Skinner, and his beloved dog Kibbles. Ernie had a passion for sailing and spent many hours aboard his boat, Destiny II. He loved to share this passion with his family and friends, and his sons have inherited his love for the water. Some of the best memories of Ernie involve the Charlottetown waterfront and Kibbles. Music was a major part of his life. He was born a drummer and spent many years playing in various bands. Ernie was diagnosed with melanoma in March 2020. Despite receiving excellent care from a dedicated team of professionals at the QEH, he was not fortunate enough to overcome the many challenges presented by this aggressive disease. During the past few months, he faced his illness with grace and courage. Ernie’s strength of spirit and positive energy touched us all very deeply. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. Resting at Hennessey Funeral Home in Charlottetown. Due to COVID-19 health restrictions, private visitation and funeral service will be held by invitation only. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Ernie’s memory to the Cancer Treatment Centre or Unit 1 at the QEH. Online condolences may be sent to www.islandowned.ca
