Douglas Alexander “Doug” Mackinnon
The death occurred as a result of an accident at his mechanic shop at his late residence on Thursday, March 15, of Douglas Alexander “Doug” MacKinnon, of Borden-Carleton, age 62. Left to mourn are his mother Carmen MacKinnon of Charlottetown and formerly of Springhill, P.E.I., and his siblings Carol MacKinnon (Sam Evans) of Charlottetown, Earlene McKinnon-Gray (Bob Gray) of Charlottetown, Donald MacKinnon (Noelle) of Indian Point, N.S., David MacKinnon (Wendy) of Medicine Hat AB, Gladys MacKinnon of Middleton, N.S., and Richard MacKinnon of Sammamish, WA USA. Doug was predeceased by his father Frank MacKinnon of Springhill. Doug was highly respected and loved by his family, his large circle of friends, his community, those who bought used cars from him, and all who knew him. He was a constant ‘tease,’ and was therefore adored by his nieces and nephews who grew up around him. ‘Uncle Doug’ was the one for whom everyone waited to arrive at family gatherings, and will be particularly missed by Alexa and Victoria Evans, Sarah MacKinnon and Emily Rideout, Matthew and Tristan McKinnon-Gray, Donald and Kate Price, and Eliana and Simone MacKinnon. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Tuesday, March 20th, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Interment to take place in Victoria West People Cemetery, Victoria West at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Doug’s memory to the Amherst Cove Consolidated School would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Online condolences can be sent to [email protected] Arrangements entrusted to the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside, P.E.I. www.peifuneralcoops.com
