ABBOTT, Douglas Andrew It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Doug on May 21, 2020 in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 61 due to complications from cancer. Doug is survived by his loving family, his wife of 34 years, Brenda (nee Novakowski), and sons Alex and Scott and his daughter in PEI, Sarah Carpenter. Predeceased by his parents, Mary (nee Wright) and George Abbott, and sister Catherine McCormack. Living to witness his passing are siblings Elizabeth (David) Clay, Charles (Judy) Abbott, John (Kendra) Abbott, David (Linda) Abbott, Jane (Rick) Kennedy and brother-in-law Lynn McCormack and their families. Also, his mother and father-in-law Flo and Van Novakowski, sister-in-law Val (Hugh) Jarvin and brother-in-law Gary (Lois) Novakowski all of BC. He also leaves behind over 20 nieces and nephews and over 20 grand nieces and nephews. Doug’s remains will be returned to his beloved P.E.I. for his final resting place. A family committal service will be held. The family wants to express their appreciation to all the doctors and nurses and caregivers who assisted with his care over the past year, all of whom were compassionate, kind, and caring.
