LEGERE, Mary “Dorothy” Dorothy Legere (nee Gaudet) passed away peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on Monday, May 25, 2020, aged 97. Dorothy is survived by her son-in-law, Harvey E. Gallant; grandchildren, Earlene Holmes (Dale), Terry Gallant (Brenda), Krista Cantwell (Andy Ford), Dwayne Gallant (Tracey), Todd Gallant (Angela), Tina Cardiff (Steve); numerous great-grandchildren and her cherished Boston siblings, Noel, Theresa, Doris, Lorraine, Margaret and families. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Legere, daughter, Bernadette M. Gallant; special brother, Joe Whitehead; adoptive parents, Joe and Rosalie Gaudet; siblings from her Boston family, Bernice, Eva, Tilmon, Marie, Lawrence and Edward. Dorothy was born in Boston to her late parents Emile and Jenny (Poirier) Arsenault. She moved to Hope River, Prince Edward Island, with her adoptive parents at a very young age and stayed there until she moved to River Hebert, Nova Scotia, with her husband Arthur at age 22. She lived in Nova Scotia until returning to Prince Edward Island to reside in North Rustico and finally Garden Home. Resting at Central Queens Funeral Home, New Glasgow, Prince Edward Island, until burial in Nova Scotia is permitted. Due to current restrictions there will be no visitation or funeral at this time. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico at a later date. If so desired donations in Dorothy’s memory to the Garden Home Activity Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. The family wish to thank the Garden Home for their care during the last few years and for being an extended family to Dorothy during current health restrictions.
