Bruce MACBEATH

Bruce Macbeath
MACBEATH, Bruce Bruce MacBeath died peacefully on Wednesday, September 23rd at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PE. The son of the late Alec and Laura (Baird) MacBeath of Campbellton, NB, Bruce attended Mount Allison University where he met the love of his life, the late Janet (Horne). Together, they created a life centred around family, friends and a mutual love for Prince Edward Island, especially Cavendish. Bruce is survived by his family - Nancy (George) Fotopoulos and Julia (Pierre) Gaudet and his four grandchildren, Hanna (Matt) Gaudet MacNeil, Zack Gaudet, Alexandra and Corinne Fotopoulos and new great grandson Oliver MacNeil, all of whom were the fortunate recipients of his generous spirit and sense of humour. Having lost his only sibling, Nancy Jane MacBeath, at a very young age, he treasured his relationship with brother-in-law Lee (Christine) Horne and sister-in-law Helen Horne Nugent. After starting out in Ontario with General Electric and General Motors, Bruce made his way back to the Maritimes, spending the bulk of his career in Riverview/Moncton with the financial institutions of Walwyn, Stodgell & Gairdner, Dominion Securities, and finally RBC Securities. Throughout it all he was an avid sports fan - unfailingly loyal to his Leafs and Jays - with an undying passion for country music and dogs, especially pugs. He spent many hours commuting between Moncton and Cavendish so that Jan and his kids could enjoy their summers on the links and beaches of Cavendish. In their later years, Bruce and Jan reaped the benefits of an early retirement, spending their winters in Daytona, Florida with many wonderful friends. Bruce’s family is forever grateful to the kindness and compassion shown by the staff of the Prince County Hospital and the many homecare nurses who cared for and entertained him over the past years. In addition, a very special thanks for the care and friendship of Malcom Shaw and Linden Pineau. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside. No visiting hours or funeral service by personal request. Memorial donations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. www.moase.ca
