They call the abandoned baby boy “Gatwick Gary.”
In 1986, the 10-day-old infant was abandoned at London’s Gatwick Airport. Now, after 30 years, the wee lad has tracked down his parents.
Steven Hydes was found in a women’s washroom at the airport south of London, wrapped in a shawl.
Airport staff who found him nicknamed the baby boy “Gatwick Gary.”
Now 33, Hydes has finally found his biological parents after a harrowing emotional journey.
He wrote on Facebook: “After 15 years of searching, I am happy to confirm that with the very hard work of genetic genealogists . . . we have been able to trace and confirm my birth family.”
Hyde added: “Unfortunately, my birth mum has passed away so I am unable to find out exactly what happened and why.
“However, I have found my birth father and siblings on both sides, who were all unaware of my existence.”
He was adopted by John and Sandra Hydes and renamed Steven. When he turned 18, the father of two began his search.
“More people are having their DNA tested every day and I hope this and my story can help raise awareness and prevent other babies from being abandoned,” said Hydes.
