He couldn’t get it up so he took her down.

A British man who said he “snapped” when he beat his wife to death with a crowbar for making fun of his erectile difficulties was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday, according to local media.

David Pomphret, 51, had previously admitted to killing his wife Ann Marie Pomphret, 49, Nov. 2 of last year in a stables the couple owned in Warrington, England.

He had pleaded guilty to manslaughter, claiming he had temporarily lost control after suffering abuse through their 22-year marriage. But the Crown had denied the plea and he was convicted of murder.

Judge David Aubrey said the defendant had spun “a web of deceit and lies,” BBC reported.

“You had had enough of her, saw the opportunity that presented itself that night to kill her and did so,” the judge said.

According to the Manchester News , Pomphret told court during his trial last week, that the two had gone to the stables to pick up some tools to do some work in their bathroom. He said Anne Marie, who is on the autism spectrum, started to get angry with him.

She started to call him “f—— crazy,” saying the bathroom work would just “create more s—” to deal with, the courtroom heard.

She also allegedly called their 18-year-old daughter Megan a “fat slag,” and that he was sending her out to have sex.

“She ranted at me for being a bad parent, calling me f—— useless,” Pomphret said, according to the New York Post . “Called me limp and useless. Bit embarrassing — we have been having, I have been having, erectile dysfunction. I was not performing very well.”

Pomphret said his wife then threatened to have social services take their daughter away. That is when he “snapped.”

He had told court he grabbed the hood of his wife’s coat but didn’t remember bashing her head in with a crowbar more than 30 times.

“I was standing at the side of her body,” the defendant had told the court, according to Manchester News. “I had a crowbar in my hand. There was blood on my hands and the crowbar.”

He had admitted to “stupidly” trying to cover his tracks. He said he washed the crowbar and his hands and burned his blood-covered sweatshirt. He then dropped the tools for the bathroom off at his home.

He returned to the stables and made a call to emergency services, saying he found his wife “very dead,” BBC reports.

Pomphret will serve at least 20 years in prison.
