CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The UPEI Student Union has launched a cannabis safe use campaign.

With help from the P.E.I. Cannabis Management Corp. (PEICMC), the campaign is aimed at educating students on how to safely use cannabis now that the substance is legal in Canada for those over 19 years of age.

“With this campaign, we are not aiming to discourage students from using cannabis,’’ said Sarah MacEachern, vice-president of student life for the student union. “Rather, we would like them to know how to use it safely.’’

Information will be made available to students during the campaign covering all aspects from different strains of cannabis, usage methods, physiological effects, to health and safety tips. This is meant to be a comprehensive education campaign.

“Our hope is that, at the end of this campaign, students will learn how to be safe and responsible if they choose to use cannabis.’’
