Periods of blowing snow are expected in P.E.I. this afternoon.
A special weather statement from Environment Canada says the province will see strong northwest winds gusting up to 70 km/h later today and 80 km/h tonight to create blowing snow over exposed areas.
A low pressure system southeast of Cape Breton will move across Newfoundland this afternoon and this evening.
Snow over western and central areas of the province will taper to flurries as the low moves farther away. Kings County will also see rain and snow taper to flurries this afternoon, with additional snowfall amounts of two to four cm expected.
Environment Canada advised Islanders to continue to monitor weather alerts and forecasts.
