A man in Montague allegedly attacked a police officer Wednesday, then took off on foot.
Morgan Daniel Dixon appeared in Georgetown Provincial Court today where he was ordered to stay in jail until his next court appearance later in January.
The RCMP alleges in a report issued today that Dixon had a number of orders from earlier court cases, requiring him to now be arrested. A tip came in Wednesday that Dixon was in Montague.
An RCMP officer found him, and tried to arrest him. The officer is alleging that a fight ensued and Dixon took off on foot.
“RCMP Police Dog Services attended the scene and tracked the man to a nearby business where he was found hiding in a vehicle,” said the report.
This time, the second arrest attempt went smoothly.
No one was significantly injured during the event, the report says.
Dixon, who lives in the Montague area, will remain in jail after a court appearance Thursday. He will appear in court in Georgetown again Jan. 25 to enter a plea.
In addition to the outstanding warrant charges, Dixon now faces two additional charges of resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
