Two pit bull-like dogs have been seized from a Stratford residence.
On Nov. 10, the P.E.I. Humane Society (PEIHS) animal protection team, with assistance from Queens District RCMP, seized the dogs under a search warrant issued under the P.E.I. Dog Act.
The dogs are in the custody of the PEIHS for assessment of behaviour and health. The outcome of the assessment will prioritize public safety.
It is important that every dog owner recognize their responsibility for public safety. Every breed and size of dog has the potential to harm a person or another animal. Owners are responsible to ensure their pets are under control at all times, and must take fearful, anxious and aggressive behaviour seriously.
Positive reinforcement training, socialization in different situations and regular exercise and attention help to improve every dog’s disposition.
