There are two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), a press release from the Department of Health and Community Services said.
Both are travel related.
The first new case is a female between 20 and 39 years of age in the Eastern Health region. The resident of NL has been self-isolating since arriving in the province from the United States.
The second case is a female between 20 and 39 years of age in the Western Health region. The resident of NL has been self-isolating since arriving from Ontario.
In both cases, contact tracing is complete and anyone considered to be a close contact has been advised to quarantine.
The second new case is a close contact of a case reported on Friday, November 13. That case was originally reported as being in the Central Health region, but the Department of Health and Community Services said the reported location was an error. The location should have been reported as the Western Health region.
All other details reported about yesterday’s new case are accurate. There has been no negative impact on the individual because of the error and the error caused no delay in contact tracing, the statement said.
There are currently eight active cases, 289 people have recovered and 56,476 people have been tested.
