The 15th annual Prince Edward Island Marathon Weekend takes place Friday, Oct. 12 to Sunday, Oct. 14. The Marathon brings more than 2,500 participants, spectators and families to P.E.I. from all over the globe for the running/walking events.

Drivers are asked to use extra caution when travelling in and around Charlottetown and to plan ahead as there will be traffic delays along the routes.

Runners in the full marathon begin near the Brackley entrance of the P.E.I. National Park, entering Charlottetown via the Confederation Trail at Brackley Point Road.

They travel along Sherwood Road to the All Weather Highway/Malpeque Road onto University Avenue, ending on Great George Street between Kent and Grafton streets.

The half marathon, 10-kilometre run and wheelchair and children categories take place mainly in city limits, starting on Grafton Street at Queen Street and travelling through the Brighton and Belvedere Avenue areas.

Anyone looking to access the Charlottetown Airport from the Malpeque Road are encouraged to use John Yeo Drive/MacAleer Drive or the Arterial Highway as a detour route instead of the Sherwood Road during the road closures in this area.
