MONTAGUE, P.E.I. — The momentum to build a splash pad in Montague for this summer has seemed to cool down.
Residents may not now see the splash pad until next summer after construction of the project hit a roadblock earlier this spring.
During a recent council meeting, former Three Rivers interim mayor Merrill Scott asked why no shovels were in the ground for the splash park.
He said he had been approached by residents asking what happened to the project.
Council had previously marked $62,000 in its budget for the splash pad. Construction was supposed to start by the end of March.
Mayor Ed MacAulay confirmed that all the materials for the splash pad have been purchased.
However, they are currently in storage until the town can find someone to construct the splash pad.
“We have everything, we just can’t find anybody who… knows how to install it,” said MacAulay, who described the situation as “unfortunate.”
