SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Two Summerside area men are facing impaired-driving related charges as a result of separate incidents.

The first occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 8, when a police officer pulled over a vehicle on First Street for traffic infractions.

Upon speaking with the driver, a 43-year-old man, the officer determined the man was displaying signs of impairment.

The man was arrested and provided breath samples above the legal limit. He has been released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

Police responded to the second incident at around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, when officers on patrol found a vehicle in the parking lot of an elementary school.

Police spoke with the driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old man, who was prohibited from driving.

The man also showed signs of alcohol consumption, so officers conducted a roadside screening test, which he failed.

He was arrested and provided breath samples above the legal limit.

He has been released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

The drivers’ vehicles have been impounded.
