SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Allen Joseph Cormier, 69, of Summerside has pleaded guilty to a single count of sexual assault.

The charge is from Jan. 9 in Summerside.

Cormier was sentenced to serve 75 days in jail, which he received permission to do intermittently. Upon his release, Cormier must also serve two years of probation and must pay a $100 victim surcharge.

Cormier’s name will appear on the national sex offender registry for 10 years, and he was ordered to submit a DNA sample to the national criminal database.

A publication ban is in place for any information which could be used to identify the victim in this case.
