Resident, volunteer and local businessman Cory Stevenson, 31, has announced his intention to seek a seat on the Cornwall town council in the upcoming municipal election.

Voters head to the polls on Nov. 5.

A Bluefield High School graduate, Cory Stevenson earned a bachelor of arts, a bachelor of education, inclusive education certificate and a public administration degree — all from UPEI.

He is vice-president of operations of D.L McQuaid Holdings for A&W Restaurants, Charlottetown, Summerside and Amherst, N.S.

Additionally, Stevenson is involved with property development and maintenance.

Stevenson, a member of the Cornwall Cornerstone Church, sits on the board of managers and is a Sunday school teacher at Hartsville Church.

He also sits as an executive member on the UPEI Alumni Association board of directors, tutors at the university level and is involved in coaching local sports and clubs.

“With the coming highway realignment, Cornwall is facing an incredible opportunity for expansion, both residentially and commercially, and it will take proactive leadership and vision to foster positive and sustainable growth for our community – whether that be environmentally, socially, or economically while maintaining responsible fiscal management,’’ said Stevenson.

“I believe my personal and professional experience, along with my youthful perspective, allows me to champion a positive and prosperous future for Cornwall and all of its residents and families”.

Stevenson and his wife, Jana, a teacher, reside on Stephanie Drive.
