Stations respond to 61 fire calls in Charlottetown

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The Charlottetown Fire Department responded to 61 calls in October.

Station 1 on Kent Street was the busier of the two departments, handling 48 of those calls.

Seventeen of those calls were for an alarm ringing with no fire.

The station also responded to eight alarms related to cooking, five due to equipment malfunction, three due to a motor vehicle collision, two for a dumpster fire, one for a flu fire and two calls for mutual aid for Island EMS.

Station 2 in Sherwood had four alarms due to cooking, three each for alarm ringing but no fire and three for an equipment malfunction.

There was also one call for a motor vehicle collision and one call for a smell of propane.
