Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for all of P.E.I. with blowing snow expected throughout the province early this week.
A slow moving low pressure system will track south of Nova Scotia Monday and then across Cape Breton that evening.
Snow will develop on P.E.I. near midday Monday and will be accompanied by easterly winds. Snow could possibly mix with rain later in the day, especially over the eastern half of the province.
Snow will likely persist into Tuesday and is expected to give accumulation in excess of 10 cm. Gusty northwest winds will also develop on Tuesday, which will make the temperature colder.
Those winds may also cause reduced visibility in blowing snow, along with higher than normal water levels and rough pounding surf along the northern coastline of Queens and Kings counties.
