Time to celebrate the Commonwealth

P.E.I. Lt.-Gov Antoinette Perry, left, joins UPEI Commonwealth students Tamish Boodhun of Mauritius, Aanu Owoeye of Nigeria, Chinwe Okwuwolo of Nigeria, Ricky Jamer and Horatio Toledo, president of the Royal Commonwealth Society of P.E.I., in getting ready to raise the Commonwealth flag. On Monday, March 12, 7 p.m., the society is holding a special Commonwealth service at the Kirk of St. James Presbyterian Church in Charlottetown. March 12 is also the 50th anniversary of independence for the country of Mauritius. In that regard, Boodhun said he is proud to be a citizen of Mauritius and a member of the British Commonwealth.
