TIGNISH, P.E.I. — Tignish Mayor Allan McInnis has shuffled the deck.

Four members of Tignish town council were assigned new responsibilities at the conclusion of the town’s November council meeting.

Sam Arsenault, a former recreation director with the town, is the new chairman of the council’s recreation committee. He retains the economic development portfolio but gives up responsibility for Tignish Initiatives.

The council’s liaison with Tignish Initiatives shifts to Debbie Fennessey, who also takes overresponsibility for library and holds onto Planning Board but moves from Fire and Emergency Measures.

Lloyd Gavin retains Streets and Street lights and picks up Fire Services.

Judy Morrissey-Richard was moved from recreation and was given emergency measures, while retaining Communities in Bloom and parks.

While roles for John McInnis and Angel Murphy haven’t changed, the mayor said he is not ruling out further changes before the end of the year.

McInnis has sewer, water and sidewalks, while Murphy is deputy mayor and chairwoman of the finance committee.

“I have a good council now," the mayor said.

He said he wanted to shift things up a bit to give councillors a wider range of responsibilities.
