Summerside police have charged two men with impaired driving over the weekend.
A 35-year-old man was caught drunk driving on Friday, Nov. 27 shortly after 7 p.m.
Members of the Summerside Fire Department were manning barricades on Water Street for the Santa Claus Parade and encountered a vehicle trying to go around the barricades.
After speaking with the driver, firefighters called police to report they thought the driver was impaired.
The vehicle left the are,a but police located it in the St. Eleanor’s area.
The driver failed a roadside screening test and later provided breath samples that were more than two and half times the legal limit.
The second incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, when an officer on patrol noted a vehicle driving erratically through the round-about at Slemon Park.
The officer stopped the vehicle and the driver, a 35-year-old Prince County man, failed a roadside screening test.
He then provided breath samples in excess of the legal limit.
Both men will appear in court at a later date to face impaired driving related charges.
