SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A Summerside developer is looking to have a street name for a private road approved.

Summerside's planning board committee met recently to discuss the application for a street name proposed by MacCormack Builders and Apartments Ltd. that is not on the city's approved street name list.

The proposed name is David James, the first and middle name of the property owner/developer, David MacCormack.

Summerside Mayor Basil Stewart said it had a nice ring to it. The private road will meet the standards of the developer and will not be taken over by the city at a future time.

During the meeting Coun. Brian McFeely said the decision to recommend approval for the street name does not take away from the hard work the city's street naming committee did a couple of years ago. Council will vote on the decision at the next monthly meeting.
