Summerside man gets 285 days in jail for multiple crimes

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A 51-year-old Summerside man has pleaded guilty to a number of criminal charges.

The charges against Michael Joseph Chaisson include one count of breaching a probation order, one count of stealing mail sent by post before it was delivered, one count of stealing property exceeding $5,000, two counts of stealing merchandise valued at less than $5,000, nine counts of using a stolen credit card and one count of failing to attend court as required.

The charges all took place in Summerside throughout 2019.

Chaisson was sentenced to serve 285 days in jail and 24 months of probation. He must also pay back about $165.12 to his victims.
