ST. PETERS BAY, P.E.I. — St. Peters Bay conservationist Brad Taylor has been named Ducks Unlimited Canada’s (DUC) volunteer of the year for P.E.I.
Taylor is a 12-year volunteer with the organization and co-chairs the local St. Peters Bay dinner and auction.
“It is quite an honour to be recognized after 12 years of doing what I love,’’ Taylor said. “Water conservation, being outdoors and spending time with a great bunch of guys and gals that I am proud to call friends are just a few of the reasons I continue to invest my time to this very worthy cause.’’
DUC is supported by more than 5,600 volunteers across the country. This includes nearly 60 in P.E.I.
Volunteers carry out a number of activities, including serving on the board, organizing fundraising events, pitching in at local conservation project sites, helping with educational programs and lending a land at local offices of the organization.
“Brad is a very dedicated volunteer who is passionate about the work DUC does,’’ said Jamie Young, manager of events and volunteer relations for DUC in Atlantic Canada. “He goes above and beyond to help other communities with their events and is someone that others count on for support and look to for leadership.’’
