GEORGETOWN, P.E.I. — A young P.E.I. man who is prohibited from driving due to an impaired driving conviction not only ignored the prohibition but did so after drinking alcohol.
Tyler Mark Rose, 24, of Souris West pleaded guilty in provincial court recently to having a blood alcohol concentration that is equal to or exceeds 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance. He also pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while prohibited.
He was sentenced to 30 days in jail on each charge. The sentences are to be served concurrently.
Rose will be on probation for 12 months. He must also perform 150 hours of community service work.
In addition, he was ordered to pay $100 into the victims of crime fund and is prohibited from operating a motor vehicle for three years and 30 days.
Rose chose to break the law on Aug. 10 by first drinking alcohol and then taking off in his sister’s car. The woman called police, and Rose was arrested.
The Crown told the court Rose became “quite argumentative" after being placed in a police cruiser.
