SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A Somerset, P.E.I., man was in Summerside provincial court recently on charges from Ontario.

Gerald Adamson Poirier, also known as Shields, pleaded guilty to three criminal charges, all of which were laid in Hamilton, Ont.

The three counts of possessing Schedule 1 controlled substances, are all from an incident on Sept. 30, 2018, when Poirier was observed rolling a cannabis joint by a patrolling police officer.

A subsequent search of Poirier’s clothes turned up cannabis, codeine, fentanyl and a scale.

The charges were all subsequently transferred to P.E.I. where the accused pleaded guilty.

He was fined $700.
