SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Five people are facing multiple charges after a disturbance at a Water Street East motel Tuesday morning.

At about 9:30 a.m. on April 28, Summerside police received multiple calls reporting the disturbance at the Baker’s Lighthouse Motel and that weapons, including a baseball bat, were involved.

Police attended and found two men who had obvious head injuries and another who had appeared to have been sprayed with a chemical irritant.

The man who had been sprayed was treated by paramedics at the scene and was released.

The two men with head injuries were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and were later released.

As a result of the investigation into the disturbance, four people were arrested, including the two men who were taken to hospital.

All were processed and released from custody except for a 35-year-old Summerside man who was kept in custody and will appear in court April 29 to answer to charges of possession of a prohibited weapon, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and causing a disturbance.

Those released from custody are facing charges including assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault causing bodily harm and causing a disturbance.

A fifth person, who has not yet been arrested, is also expected to face charges.

As a result of information gathered during this investigation, the Prince District Joint Forces Drug Section executed search warrants at one of the rooms at the motel, resulting in the seizure of methamphetamine, crystal methamphetamine, cash and a weapon believed to have been used during the disturbance.

Two of the four people charged as a result of the disturbance are now facing additional charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
