CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The writing battle will continue this month with Battle Tales IV – a fun, short story contest which will run Jan. 20 12:01 am to Jan. 26 at 11:59 pm.

Presented by the P.E.I. Writers’ Guild, Battle Tales gives Island writers the motivation to get started on their New Year’s writing resolutions.

Participants get three writing prompts and one week to write a story for the chance to win all the glory this frantic, low-stakes contest has to offer.

Battle Tales is free to enter. Turn off Netflix. Get creative. Get writing.

Author and playwright Steven Mayoff is back as the judge and will be sharing writing tips to get everyone warmed up, so stay tuned to Peiwritersguild.com for his advice, information on how to enter the contest and for the all-important battle prompts.

Mayoff was born and raised in Montreal and moved to the Island in 2001.

His fiction and poetry have appeared in literary journals across Canada and the U.S., as well as in Ireland, Algeria, France, Wales, England and Croatia.

The winner will be featured on Peiwritersguild.com and in the newsletter. They will also receive a year’s membership to the P.E.I. Writers’ Guild and will be given the highly-coveted Battle Tales trophy. There will also be a knighting ceremony.
