SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A Kensington man pleaded guilty in Summerside provincial court to making counterfeit currency.  

Robert Daniel Rice, 42, is one of two co-accused of producing and using the bills. His co-accused, Jennifer Elizabeth Perry, 32, of Kensington, will appear in court at a later date on the charges. 

Rice has pleaded guilty to four counts of producing fake $50 and $100 Canadian bills, two counts of possessing fake $50 and $100 bills, one count of possession of material that he knew had been used to make counterfeit currency, one count of using a fake $50 bill, one count of failing to appear in court as required and one count of breaching his probation by contacting someone he’d been ordered not to. 

The charges are from a period between August and December 2019, and took place in Kensington and Summerside. 

Rice was sentenced to serve a year in jail and received credit for 126 days he’s already spent in custody since his arrest.
