Educational assistants Pauline Kelly and Gail Greene have been recognized by CUPE for 25 years of service with the Public Schools Branch.
The “Change in Art” showcase and exhibit will be displayed in the library on June 5, 5-7 p.m. The public is invited to drop in for a summer social to view the installations.
The MRHS concert band and vocal ensemble took part in the Atlantic Festival of Music in Halifax and the Kings County Music Festival recently. The vocal ensemble delivered silver- and bronze-medal performances; the concert band, gold- and silver-medal performances. Trista MacLeod won the overall soloist for Thursday at the Atlantic Festival of Music for her clarinet solo in Canadian Folk Song Rhapsody.
The music department will present “The Beatles Return” on May 23 in the cafeteria at 7 p.m. Tickets are $6 each or $5 for students and seniors.
Colonel Gray High School
Graysino Night is May 29 in the cafeteria, 7-10 p.m. The cost is $5.
Zixian (Ruby) Wei or Colonel Gray, the first P.E.I. student ever selected to Math Team Canada, competed recently at the European Girls Mathematical Olympiad in Kiev, Ukraine.
Leadership students hosted a Family Fun Day at the school last Saturday. Their next event is an international semi-formal banquet on May 23, 7 p.m., with entertainment and guest speakers.
Students who have accepted a scholarship, bursary or an award are asked to let student services know, with a photocopy, so that it can be announced during the graduation ceremony.
Also, grads can now fill in a green transcript form in student services indicating where their final June marks are to be sent.
KINKORA REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
The Spring Concert is May 29 at the school, beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation.
June 7 is the last day of classes for Grades 10-12 (lockers must be cleaned out), with final exams beginning June 10
The 57th annual Kinkora Regional High School Graduation is June 20, 7 p.m. Individuals, businesses or community groups wishing to donate to the KRHS Prize Fund may do so prior to June 10 in order to be acknowledged in the program. Make cheques payable to the Western School Board Education Trust.
Grade 12 students Robert Greenan and Sean Gonzales, who won gold in robotics at the 2019 P.E.I. Provincial Skills Canada competition, will represent P.E.I. at the Skills Canada National Competition in Halifax, May 28-29. They will be accompanied by teacher Ryan McAleer.
Grade 12 student Dakota MacWilliams and Grade 11 student Elizabeth Phillips have been accepted to take part in the Explore program this summer, an intensive language-immersion program. Students will improve their language skills and discover the culture of a new region, all while exploring, meeting new people from across the country and exchanging ideas in a stimulating environment.
Charlottetown Rural High School
Charlottetown Rural is selling vouchers for wave petunia hanging baskets from VanKampen’s Greenhouses in order to raise funds for Safe Grad activities.
Vouchers can be purchased for $30 (retail cost) through the main office.
