“In the near future we will be moving from the Credit Union Place in Summerside to the new Inspire Learning Centre,” said Schurman, the executive director of the East Prince Seniors initiative (EPSI).

The Rotary Club of Summerside founded EPSI in June 2010.

“I think it will bring really great things to our group, but at the same time we are so grateful for the years we’ve spent here that have allowed us to break into the community,” she added.

The Rotary Club of Summerside had invited EPSI to consider moving their location to the Inspire Learning Centre.

“There is a lot of history between EPSI and the Rotary Club. And when they brought up the possibility of moving into the centre, we wanted to consider it. We’ve always been open to trying new things, and this is one of them,” explained Schurman.

“Last week, we decided to take them up on their invitation, but we weighed the pros and cons first and went through a board-wide decision process,” said Schurman.

“What’s important is that Island seniors who rely on EPSI know that just because our location is changing doesn’t mean our programs, workshops and services are.”

Right now there is no set date for the move, Schurman said.

“It will be a great fit in terms of the activities and programs we put on. But we’re also lucky that we will still work in conjunction with Credit Union Place to host some programs and seminars.”

EPSI’s three focal points are wellness, learning and productivity.

“We’ll still be looking at our three focus areas when we relocate to the centre.

“The new location will allow us to put our heads together and come up with new workshops and projects that could involve the centre’s learning resources. It will expand our horizons.”
